The formulation of Pancasila in the 1945 Constitution of Indonesia was formally established on August 18, 1945. This was the date the Constitution was officially adopted by the Preparatory Committee for Indonesian Independence (PPKI) following Indonesia's declaration of independence on August 17, 1945. The Preamble to the 1945 Constitution contains the five principles of Pancasila, which serve as the philosophical foundation of the Indonesian state.
